About this test
This free abstract reasoning test measures fluid, non-verbal intelligence — your ability to spot rules in shapes and patterns without relying on words or numbers. Eight visual puzzles span three classic formats: completing a shape series, finding the missing piece of a matrix, and picking the odd one out. It takes about four minutes and needs no registration.
As soon as you finish, we score your answers and email a category-by-category breakdown, so you can see whether your strength is sequences, matrices, or spotting the exception. Abstract reasoning is one of the best culture-fair measures of raw problem solving, which is why employers use it in graduate and selection assessments.
The skill improves with exposure. If one format trips you up, the trick is to name the rule explicitly — "it rotates 90° each step", "the fill alternates", "one shape has no straight edges" — rather than relying on a gut feeling. Your report shows which format to focus on.
Frequently asked questions
- What is an abstract reasoning test?
- It measures non-verbal, fluid intelligence — your ability to identify rules and patterns in shapes and figures. Because it doesn't depend on language or maths, it's considered a culture-fair measure of raw problem solving, widely used in aptitude and job-selection assessments.
- What kinds of questions are on it?
- Three classic formats: shape series (what comes next), matrices (the missing piece of a grid), and odd-one-out (which figure breaks the rule).
- How long does it take?
- About four minutes — eight visual questions, no time limit.
- How is it different from the IQ test?
- Our IQ test mixes visual patterns with number sequences and verbal logic. This test is purely visual and abstract, so it isolates non-verbal reasoning. Many people take both.
- Is it free?
- Yes, completely free and no account needed. You enter an email only so we can send your category-by-category report.
